We can't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the milestones and moments that have defined this extraordinary year at Turn the Page KC. Your ongoing support has been instrumental in making these achievements possible, and we are excited to share the highlights of the impact we've collectively made.
Turn the Page Store at the New KCI Airport
This year marked a significant milestone with the opening of the Turn the Page Store at the new KCI airport. This storefront serves not only as a welcoming gateway to our city but also as a beacon of literacy and education. Visitors from near and far now have the opportunity to support our cause and take a piece of our commitment to childhood literacy with them.
Two Reading Festivals, Hundreds of Free Books
Our commitment to fostering a love for reading within our community was vividly demonstrated when we hosted two Reading Festivals. At these joyous events, we had the privilege of distributing hundreds of free, new books to families. The smiles on the faces of children and parents alike were a testament to the positive impact these festivals had on our community.
Read 360 Holistic Literacy Program Expansion
This year, Read 360, our holistic literacy program, expanded its reach and participation. This initiative goes beyond the traditional approach to reading education, addressing the multifaceted aspects of a child's development. Your support has allowed us to empower more children with the tools and skills they need to thrive academically and personally.
Introduction of Book Vending Machines to Area Elementary Schools
In our ongoing effort to make books easily accessible to children, we introduced book vending machines to area elementary schools. These machines provide a convenient and exciting way for students to access new books, fostering a culture of reading and exploration within the school environment.
With these big accomplishments, we are reminded of the collective impact we can make when we come together with a shared vision. The journey ahead holds even more promise, and we invite you to continue being a vital part of our story.
Here are three ways you can help Turn the Page KC as we embark on the next year of literacy success:
- Make a donation: we cannot achieve our goal for every child in the region to be reading at grade level without financial support. See the next page for how we put your contributions to work.
- Support a classroom: there is no better way to make a direct impact than to support our campaign to put a Turn the Page KC literacy gift package in every grade level in every elementary school within the Kansas City Public School System.
- Spread the word: let your friends, family, and employers know about Turn the Page KC and our strategies to improve children’s literacy.
As we approach the holiday season, we ask for your support in our year-end fundraising campaign. Your generosity will enable us to build on these successes and continue creating positive change in the lives of children in our community.
Thank you for being a champion for childhood literacy.
With gratitude,
Kristin Droege, PhD
